The Challenge: Global offshore push is posing new frontiers and threats to biodiversity and climate
The global expansion of offshore and coastal oil and gas and LNG poses a significant threat to oceans, coastlines, marine ecosystems, the communities that depend on them, and climate stability. Despite the urgent call to meet global climate goals, companies and governments worldwide are investing trillions of dollars in new fossil fuel developments, in contradiction of their green commitments and climate mandates.

Our Work: Building Tools and Momentum to Protect Coastal and Marine Ecosystems
Earth Insight is building momentum for policy outcomes that restrict coastal and offshore oil and gas expansion through the development of research and communications tools and engagement efforts that expose future fossil fuel expansion threats to global coastal and marine hotspots before they become a reality.

Future Direction: Help stop/delay oil/gas projects and establish new MPAs across key frontier regions
To alter current trajectories of coastal and offshore oil and gas development, our target is to equip partner-led campaigns to stop or delay oil/gas projects, establish new MPAs across key frontier regions, and build momentum for key policy mechanisms such as the High Seas Treaty.
