Oil and gas concessions threaten Peruvian indigenous territories, says NGO

New maps show that fossil fuel concessions in the Peruvian Amazon threaten the territories of Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (Piaci), endangering both the environment and the way of life of these communities, according to various organizations reported on Thursday.

New maps show that fossil fuel concessions in the Peruvian Amazon threaten the territories of Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (Piaci), endangering both the environment and the way of life of these communities, according to various organizations reported on Thursday. 

On the occasion of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, celebrated on August 9, the Inter-Ethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Amazon (Aidesep), the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (Coica) and the International Working Group for the Protection of Indigenous Peoples in Isolation and Initial Contact (GTI-Piaci) have produced a report on the expansion of fossil fuel exploitation in the Amazon.
